Someries Castle, Hyde, Bedfordshire. All that remains of this site are the gatehouse (incorportaing a chapel and lodge) - the rest is earthworks and the whole site is a scheduled ancient monument (not a listed building). The name of it comes from William de Somery (of Dudley), whose residence stood here in the 13th century, but the building could not have been described as a "castle". It is one of the earliest brick buildings in England. GOC Hertfordshire's walk on 14 April 2018.
