An unusual decorative mount, probably of a modern date (possibly Victorian). The mount is cast from a metal with a high lead content, possibly pewter and therefore has a grey surface. The overall shape of the mount is that of 2 figures set either side of what looks like a theatre stage or the front of a chariot. The figures on each side are kneeling and are wearing little clothing. They have elaborate headdresses (possibly Persian in origin). Underneath the mount, on the bottom is a small flat rectangular plate with the remains of a possible rivet hole. This indicates that the mount would have somehow been mounted onto another object. This type of decorative mount was common on Victorian furniture, such as clocks. The two figures on either side may represent Hades and Poseidon and Zeus is a missing figure who would have been in the centre - each figure may be maintaining a hand on the reins. The object weighs 26.9g and measures 36.8mm in width, 25.9mm in length (height) and 24mm in thickness from front to back.
