This is the story of three young men, from Gambia and from Nigeria, who left their homelands because of the brutality and harshness of their lives. They come from rural areas of their countries, and are in Italy since 2016. They have no family here yet, but friends are their family – although they experience solidarity from different organisations. They travelled across the desert up to Libya, where they were in danger for life and had to hide themselves for survive. Then they came to Italy by boat. However, it is difficult to start a new life here because there are no jobs. We asked what was the hardest part of the whole travel and the answer was "the more you go the harder you face", although the experience in Libya was really terrifying, because there was no safety therein. They hope they can settle for a better life in Europe, and that their families can one day come to join them.
