A large section of Ira Waldron's work consists of objects, which emerge as her favourite artistic genre either in the form of a regular sculpture or as creations from a set of disparate objects or elements appropriated from the work of other artists. One such example is the work Children, Kitchen, Church from 2016 where the artist combines a ceramic kitchen utensil with elements of a wooden children's toy while creating a Christian cross. Her aim is to create an artistic trick by prompting the viewer to look more closely at the object, to accept it and often challenge them to touch it. And while at first glance one might approach these objects as cute and playful, they actually contain political, social and religious messages that give the viewer second thoughts.
