Late Saxon Polyhedral weight of Scandinavian form, a cube with the corners cut-off, i.e. with fourteen faces. Each large face is decorated with a pair of C-shaped stamps within an engraved border. In good but slightly scuffed condition, with tiny parts of the corners and arrises missing. Weighing 1.51g / 23.4 grains / 0.97 pennyweight. This is very close both to a postulated Anglo-Saxon unit of 3.1g (Kruse 1992, 86) and to one pennyweight (24 grains, one twentieth of an ounce Troy). 5.9 – 6mm³. 9th – 11th century.
