A copper-alloy standard trade weight for averdepois and troy systems of Post-Medieval to Modern date, AD1590-1826. The weight is part of a larger group of stacking weights, having a wide and relatively thick raised edge on the upper face. The front and rear faces both have turned circles around a central hollow point. This weight weighs 13.13g (0.46oz), diameter is 25.54mm and thickness is 4.30mm. The weight is circular in plan and flat with a raised edge on the upper surface. In side the raised border are three stamped punched symbols. To the left side of the 12 o'clock position is either a 'C' or 'G' surmounted by a crown and to the right side is a sword. A 'C' surmounted crown would indicate Charles I (AD1625-1649) or II (AD1660-1685) while a 'G' would indicate the reigns of George I - III (AD1714 - 1820), thus narrowing the possible date range to AD1625-1685 or AD1714-1820. The sword is the sword of St Paul which is the City of London (Guildhall) mark. At the 6 o'clock position is an unclear symbol that may be a ewer, a symbol to be expected on such weights. There is no fourth symbol present indicating the absence of a letter 'A' (for Averdepois) but this is not uncommon for we
