Cast lead trade weight, in the form of a circular disc, with some marks on the upper face that are deliberate. Just out from the centre of the disc is a raised pellet within an incuse circle, with seven linear rays emanating from the circle, making it look like the spokes of a wheel. There are other pairs of parallel oblique lines beyond the wheel motif, which are commonly seen on these disc weights. The weight weighs 34.2 g which equates to 1.2 ounces avoirdupois or just over one troy ounce.Bailey (2011) illustrates similar lead trade weights in the form of a disc, one with a central circle and parallel pairs of lines, and another with a raised pellet below an incuse crescent on pages 123-4, Pics.21b & 25a, which are dated from the Medieval to the Post-medieval period.Egan (1998) illustrates a discoidal lead weight with incuse circle that weighs 49 g, on page 315, Fig.234, No.1001, which is dated from the 14th century.Biggs and Withers (2000) illustrate a similar disc weight with pellets and a wheel with seven spokes, that weighs 38.8 g, on page 24, No.36.
