Brass stamped apothecaries weight, with symbol and star. Roughly square, symbol and star present on top surface, with traces of another symbol (now illegible) on damaged bottom surface. Probably of C17th century date. It's weight no longer conforms to either the English Troy system or the classical Roman system; at 6.26g (69.5 grain) it falls short of both 2 drachm (7.78g) and 2 drachma (6.82g). Ref: Biggs 'Apothecaries Weights' (1994).
